"Peddlers" in Tanglewood In response to a resident’s inquiry recently regarding an ice cream man peddling his frozen treats in Tanglewood, the following information about peddlers in general in Lyon Township is being shared with our Community residents. Peddlers must apply for a permit; the Oakland County Sherriff’s Department runs a background check, and if all is fine, the person pays for and is issued the permit. If any peddler does not have such a permit, residents should call April in the Lyon Township Ordinance Department at 248.437.2240. Please be able to give her as much information about the peddler as possible. There is a $500 fine for peddling in the Township without a permit.
A permit was recently issued to “Pars Ice Cream”; so if this gentleman is peddling his wares in Tanglewood, he has been approved by the Sherriff’s Department and holds a permit to do so. If you have any questions or comments, please contact Leona Brown at 248.486.1783 or . Theft from Vehicles Residents have once again reported that their vehicles have been broken into recently. The Lyon Township Sheriff’s Department will begin patrolling our Community on afternoon and midnight shifts. Please remember to lock vehicles parked outside the home and take general security precautions. Also, if you notice any suspicious activity near your residence, please call 911 to report noting any pertinent details.
Pet Scam Alert With the recent increase in lost pets not only in Tanglewood but also in the surrounding area, the Neighborhood Watch Committee is advising residents to keep close watch on their pets as Oakland County is one of the areas targeted by a pet scam in which pets are stolen and then returned to their owners for the reward money. The crime was the focus of the following "Defenders" report on WDIV television:

Neighborhood Watch Signs
Soon, signs will be attached to the speed limit signs at each entrance identifying Tanglewood as a Neighborhood Watch Community. We ask residents to continue to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity within the community by calling 911 with as much detailed information about the observance as possible. Note specifics and make a quick written record for reporting, if possible.
